Meet Honey!

So… why honey?

So… why honey? Well, bear with me as I go down a short bunny trail that goes back several years. My mother in law was always health conscience. Some would probably say, to the extreme. In the 1970s while my husband was a little boy, his mother’s brother in law Jerry heard a lecture by a man with the name of Joe Parkhill. Joe was a Honeybee man, with lots of first hand knowledge & experience. He wrote a book called “The Wonderful World of Honey” a book of information & recipes. Uncle Jerry bought his book for my mother in law, to help her on the healthy journey she was always looking for. Sorry to say, my mother in law never utilized the book. After she passed away, and we were cleaning out her home, I came across the cookbook, and set it aside to look at later. Several times cleaning out my own closet, I’d pick this book back up, think about donating it, but God kept prompting me that I needed to keep it. I finally decided to pick it up to read after we moved. This book inspired me to experiment with not only the recipes in the book, but also to develop and test my own recipes.

Honey truly is an amazing product produced from a uniquely made creation of God. Honey has so many health benefits, for so many reasons. God created this fuzzy little flying friend to not just pollinate our crops, fruit trees, and flowers, he allowed the honeybee to produce something delicious that we can consume and enjoy!

I am not a medical expert, nor nutritionist and do not claim to be. This blog is dual purpose. It’s meant to give you options for a healthier lifestyle by using honey as well as other healthy ingredients.  I can only attest to how it has helped my own health, as well as the huge difference it has made in my family’s health as well. I will also be highlighting areas of gardening, canning a preserving to pass on the knowledge we have learned along the way.

All the recipes found on this site use honey as the only sweetener or main sweetener, along with Stevia, or other sugars that the quantities have been greatly reduced. I also have been experimenting to include different flours with a lower impact on the glycemic index as well. I hope you enjoy the collection of my recipes. These are tested staple recipes like mom or grandma used to make within the confines of being more healthy with less sugar.
